Installing Windows 7 on MacBook Pro. Why? Because I'm bored and it's a new toy, that's why.

Kinja'd!!!

Let's see how this goes. I'm all new to the Mac world (other than my various iPads). I'm fairly technology savvy so who knows.

Best Windows machine I ever had was my old 2007 vintage Macbook.

That's how I feel like I'm going to feel about this install. It's one of those things where this MacbookPro is built so much better than most comparable PC's. I would ideally have liked to keep my Sony Vaio, however, it died after 7 years. Not bad.

Dual Booting is the way to go. I'm a regular Mac user, but I've got Windows in stalled on a couple of machines just in case. It really works quite well. My brother's experience is similar to Carl's. He said that his MBP he used to have was the best Win laptop he'd had. He traded it for a camera body, though.

I am unaware of how dual booting will prevent viruses. Thoughts?

So far, I am loving it. It's a lot quicker. The thing about the MacBook Pro is the construction of the device itself. I find my self really appreciating that aspect. I think I am going to really like it. I really want to learn more about the Mac OS however, I need to be functional with my CAD programs and that requires Windows.

I know there's lots of talk about "Mac Tax" and how expensive their machines are. But there is a solidity to the build that I have not seen in any PC. My wife brought home a Windows laptop of some sort from her work to take with her out of town, and it just feels creaky and plastic-y compared to my aluminum body MB. I understand that you do your work with what's inside the computer, but I find the external, tactile experience to be very important.

I installed Windows 0n my 2010 MacBook Pro so I could play Oblivion and other games. It was slow even with only core processes running. If you really want a challenge try installing some variation of Linux too.

Haven't played with Linux in a while but I'll look into it.

Agreed. Me too. Honestly, it instills a confidence in the machine that others don't do.

Yea you can get a PC that is as nice (aesthetically) as a mac, but they're no cheaper. The PC's I order for our employees are almost as nice, but they're 2k!

it was more tongue-in-cheek because of the whole "macs can't get viruses" shtick that people use. don't worry, you'll get viruses still :D

Yeah, I tell people that all the time. "APPLE PRODUCTS DONT GET VIRUSES!!!" Yeah, bro, they do. And they get bogged down by bloatware. And they aren't indestructible. Face/palm.
